A coin is more than its metal.
Spot price is a useful reference for precious-metal content. A coin's date, mint mark, condition, certification and demand can add value beyond the metal itself. Paper currency has no precious-metal melt value.
What is a troy ounce?
Precious metals are priced in troy ounces. One troy ounce is approximately 31.1035 grams, rather than the 28.3495 grams in an ordinary ounce.
Why is a coin's price different from spot?
Retail prices can include minting, distribution, condition, grading and collectible premiums. The quote on this page is a metal-content reference, not a price offered for a specific coin.
How often do prices update?
This page requests quotes every 60 seconds while it is visible. Each metal shows the provider's quote time in UTC. Quotes may be delayed, and markets can pause on weekends and holidays. If a feed is unavailable, the last available quote is identified rather than replaced with an invented price.
